For members of the Texas Children's Hospital medical staff

Dr. Ralph D. Feigin

From the physician-in-chief

Join me in welcoming
our new residents and fellows

By Ralph D. Feigin, M.D.

Within the next few weeks, we will welcome to Texas Children’s Hospital a new group of residents and fellows. Those who interact most frequently with both the community-based physicians and full-time faculty are the general categorical pediatric residents in the general pediatric program. The individuals who will be coming are a superb group of residents from 27 different medical schools. All are graduating near the top of their class and have a large number of extracurricular interests or talents. Many are outstanding musicians, artists, athletes and writers. A substantial number have participated actively in research which has been published in high impact, peer review journals. Two hold both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees, one holds M.D. and M.P.H. degrees, two hold M.D. and master’s degrees and one holds M.D., Ph.D. and M.P.H. degrees. Of greatest importance, all have participated in contributing to caring for the underserved in their communities in one way or another. Their letters of recommendation and individual interviews support the statement that these are caring, compassionate individuals of high motivation and great initiative.

Please join me in enthusiastically welcoming all of the residents and fellows who will arrive at the Texas Children’s Hospital in the next few weeks. We thank each of you for continuing to provide the kind of extraordinary teaching and supportive environment for which Texas Children’s Hospital has become well known.
