This clinic provides follow-up of individual patients and families with a diagnosis of:

  • Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1);

  • Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF-2);

  • Tuberous sclerosis; and

  • von Hippel-Lindau.

A multidisciplinary approach is provided by a team of geneticists, neurologists, ophthalmologists, dermatologists, neurosurgeons and otolaryngologists. Patients are followed from the initial diagnosis through adulthood with an attempt to integrate the care of these multi-system genetic diseases with the patient, their family and personal physician.

If you or your child has not been formally diagnosed with one of these conditions, you need to first schedule an appointment in our genetics clinic

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder of the nervous system which causes tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in the body at any time. Some children may have learning disabilities. NF affects all races, ethnic groups and both sexes equally and is one of the most common genetic disorders in the United States (about one in 3000 births). Many research studies are in progress to improve care of people with NF.
