The orthopaedic surgery center and scoliosis clinic provides care for pediatric patients, ages newborn to skeletal maturity, with acute or chronic orthopaedic problems. Diagnostic and treatment management programs are provided for patients with musculoskeletal abnormalities including:

  • fractures and dislocations of the extremities and of the spine
  • residual effects of trauma, such as growth disturbance, non-union and mal-union
  • sports injuries, both acute and chronic (overuse)
  • spine problems, such as scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis
  • club foot, hemihypertrophy, femoral hypoplasia, fibular and tibial hemimelia and other congenital problems
  • bow legs, knock knees, in-toeing and flat feet
  • neuromuscular disorders, such as cerebral palsy, myelomeningocele and muscular dystrophies
  • hip dysplasia, Blount's disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, Legg-Perthes disease, leg length discrepancy, coxa vara and other development problems
  • disorders of the cervical spine, including Klippel-Feil syndrome, upper cervical instability, Down's syndrome and swan neck deformity

The Orthopaedic Surgery Service and Scoliosis Clinic includes four orthopaedic surgeons who provide subspecialty care in areas including scoliosis, leg lengthening procedures and pediatric cancer of the bone.
