Because it can take time to get approval to be on the lung transplant waiting list through the United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) and for scheduling purposes, Texas Children's Lung Transplant Program encourages early referrals.

If Texas Children's is not listed on your child's health insurance, Texas Children's pediatric lung transplant coordinator will work with the insurance company on behalf of the patient and family. In many cases, we have been successful in having the program added as an approved provider.
