  Childhood Injury Prevention

Each year, injuries kill or disable more children over one year old than all childhood diseases combined. Since 1987, the unintentional injury rate among children 14 and under has declined 43 percent, largely due to greater use of smoke alarms, car seats and bicycle helmets as well as improved EMS and trauma care.

Texas Children’s Center for Childhood Injury Prevention is committed to teaching parents and children how to protect themselves from injuries and accidents. Since most accidents are preventable, we believe our efforts
can help to reduce injuries and deaths due to accidents.
