Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics

The Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics provides a variety of medically directed diagnostic services for infants, children and adolescents referred for suspected developmental and/or learning problems, including those at risk because of problems associated with birth. Patients are evaluated by a developmental pediatrician and other disciplines (developmental psychology, social work, speech/language pathology and physical/occupational therapy) as appropriate.

An essential feature of the Meyer Center is a family-centered approach in which diagnosis and treatment plans are individualized for each child and family. Following the evaluation, written reports are provided to the parents and the referring physician. Patients may be seen in the center through a physician referral or parents may call for an appointment.

The Desmond Neonatal Follow-up Clinic is part of the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics. The Desmond Clinic provides long-term follow-up and neurodevelopmental assessments for pre-term babies and helps to identify infants who may have special needs. Testing for behavioral problems such as attention deficit disorder (ADD) is provided, as well as support for parents of premature infants as the child progresses through the educational systems.
