Why did you
choose Texas Children's as an employer?
Originally I was going into geriatrics, but I always
loved working with kids. Not only working with kids, but
also figuring out how to motivate a kid to get them back to the
way they were.
What
surprised you the most about Texas Children's when you first
started? The amount of
growth that’s taken place with the hospital. While Texas
Children's has expanded, it still retains a family-centered
approach. Another surprise has been the resilient nature of
kids.
What does it
take to be part of the Texas Children's team? Love for
kids and a love for dealing with difficult situations. You have
to be a motivator who has the the ability to get the kids up and
moving and smiling. Every day I leave Texas Children's I am
humbled.
In what ways
has working here inspired you to be better? The kids
inspire me every day. How can a kid not inspire you?
Who or what
about Texas Children's keeps you motivated? Texas
Children's has the best staff and phenomenal, supportive
management. The management team really works with you to
help you find your niche.
How have your
team members encouraged you to grow? The staff is always
supportive. They encourage research and new techniques.
If you could
tell a potential employee one thing about working here, what
would that be? You’ve got to love the kids, be able to
get down to their level and you have to find a way to motivate.
You must have empathy and a caring nature. |
