PARENTS CONNECTION
Where do you turn when you've got a question about your child and
it's late at night or you're too embarrassed to ask? Start with
Texas Children's Parent Advice Line.
The Advice Line is a free information line that provides medical
advice 24 hours a day on a wide variety of topics, including
childhood illness and injuries, general wellness and behavior
problems. The Parent Advice Line is not an emergency line and is not
meant to be a substitute for proper medical care.
The most frequently requested topics so far during 2003 have been:
Sexual play: What's normal?
Sinus congestion
Vomiting: Bottle feeding
Toddler sleeping with parent
To get advice, simply call 832-824-1777and enter the four-digit
number listed on the topic list. Topic lists are available in
English and in Spanish.
The Parent Advice Line is easy to
operate.
Call 832-824-1777. A message will
prompt you to enter the appropriate code numbers for information you
would like to access. Topic codes are listed by subject.
Enter the four-digit number and listen.
If you need help at any time, enter
#1010 for instructions.
Basic Commands
Back up - To back up to the beginning
of the message you are listening to, press 2 (or B for "back up")
twice. To back up a little bit, hit 2 once.
Go - To hear another message at any
time, press 4 or G for "go." You may access up to five topics during
one call.
End - To end your call, press the pound
