    From Dr. Davis

Dr. Davis is a specialist in the Allergy and Immunology Section of the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.  She received her medical degree from Duke University in 1997.  After finishing a three year residency program in pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 2000, she completed a two year fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine.  She was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Allergy/Immunology Section at Baylor College of Medicine in 2005. Dr. Davis is focused on improving the quality of life for infants, children and adolescents with food allergies. She is dedicated to providing these patients and their families with unparalleled, personalized, family-centered care. She is ultimately dedicated to finding causes and cures for food allergies and food allergy related diseases.

Dr. Davis has published in the area of allergy and immunodeficiency with a focus in underlying immune mechanism of disease with several publications.  In 2009, her interest in the diagnosis and treatment of food allergic disease and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) increased and she established a clinic dedicated to the treatment of eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders (EGID) at Texas Children’s Hospital in collaboration with the Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. This multi-disciplinary clinic with an allergist, gastroenterologist and dietician currently extensively evaluates patients for food allergies and is equip with a dedicated dietitian to offer nutrition support.

Dr. Davis has a keen interest in the underlying pathogenesis of EoE and EGID.  She began to investigate the role of T regulatory cells in EoE and received funding to continue her evaluation for immune mechanisms of disease for EoE through proteome analysis of peripheral eosinophils and tissue samples.  Dr. Davis is currently recognized as an expert in the field. She is active as a member of the Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders Committee through the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and is on the steering committee for the 2013 International Gastrointestinal Eosinophilic Disease Research Symposium.  She is currently involved in research in the area of the immune mechanisms underlying food allergies and has grant funding from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology for clinical research to compare diet and medication therapy in children with EoE.
