    One of the nation’s largest resources for families of children with Rett syndrome

    The Blue Bird Circle Rett Center specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care of girls and women with Rett syndrome. An appointment with the Rett Center includes a comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluation. Parents must accompany their children to these appointments. 

    Specialists are available to evaluate problems such as:

    • Scoliosis
    • Chewing/swallowing dysfunction
    • Failure to thrive
    • Gastroesophageal reflux
    • Motor dysfunction

    A child with Rett syndrome may receive referrals to be evaluated by additional specialists from the Blue Bird Circle Clinic for Pediatric Neurology and by professionals from associated clinics at Texas Children's Hospital.

    More than 800 girls and women have been seen in the Blue Bird Circle Rett Center since 1985, making it one of the nation’s largest resources for families of children with Rett syndrome.

    The Rett Center also supports education and research (links if content exists) to better understand this rare neurological disorder.
