  Texas Children’s Pediatric Surgery Center

The services of the pediatric surgery clinic range from routine outpatient surgery to complex procedures on children with unique surgical problems. Clinic physicians have developed a particular expertise in minimally invasive surgeries for pediatric patients.

Surgeons perform endoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery for the treatment of gall bladder disease, gastroesophageal reflux, splenic disorders, appendicitis and congenital mega-colon.

Additionally procedures such as lung biopsy, decortication and wedge resection are being performed thoracoscopically. Texas Children's Pediatric Surgery Center also provides all ECMO services and renal services offered at Texas Children's Hospital.

Nine full-time board certified pediatric surgeons provide
24-hour availability not only to patients, but also to referring physicians.
The pediatric surgery office is set up to accommodate same-day office visits for those patients requiring attention on an urgent basis, thereby eliminating the need for them to be seen initially in the emergency room.

In addition to the main location at Texas Children's Hospital, surgical services are also offered in the Texas Children's Health Centers in Clear Lake, Cypress Fairbanks, Sugar Land, West Houston and The Woodlands.

As the pediatric surgical faculty at Baylor College of Medicine, we work very closely with all of the Baylor pediatric specialists. That close working relationship is enhanced by our location in the Texas Children's Hospital and our community locations.

By virtue of these locations, we are able to easily and quickly access vital information on each patient through the Texas Children's Hospital information network. We have an established rapport with these specialists which extends to the office personnel who work in a cooperative effort to coordinate any services for the ease and convenience of the patient. Recognizing the need and importance of coordinated multidisciplinary care, we are able to offer this in settings that allow maximum service with minimum inconvenience to the patient.
