Inpatient meal assistance

Resources

Purpose
To assist patients’ caregivers who are staying at the bedside with meals during a hospitalization.

Options

  • Medicaid Transportation Meal Assistance program
    Eligibility: patient must be on Medicaid; patient must reside in a county other than Harris. Once eligibility is determined, contact Medicaid Transportation at
    1-877-633-8747. For more information, see medical transportation section.

  • Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN)
    Eligibility: patient must be on CSHCN; patient must reside at least 50 miles away from Texas Children's Hospital. Once eligibility is determined, contact the patient's CSHCN caseworker for assistance.
  • Family room
    Every morning complimentary coffee and pastries are available in the family room on every floor. Feel free to have family and friends bring food to keep in the refrigerator provided for families. Please mark your food with your name and the date.
  • Volunteer Services
    Cold cut sandwiches are available once per day from the volunteer services office located on the first floor of the Abercrombie building near the red elevators.
