Gaurika
Physical Therapist (per diem)
4 ½ years at Texas Children's
Why did you
choose Texas Children's as an employer?
I LOVE working with kids, but also I like the way things are
managed here not just within
the department but also throughout the entire hospital.
The staff throughout the hospital is also friendly, positive
and professional; everyone seems to work together with the
patient’s and family’s best interests in mind. Plus, it’s a very
child-friendly environment with bright and happy colors
everywhere.
What
surprised you the most about Texas Children's when you first
started? I get paid to do
this?! There are so many fun, updated and age appropriate
toys available to use in therapy.
What does it
take to be part of the Texas Children's team?
Understanding, communication, a vast knowledge of
skills, professionalism and overall politeness are just
a few of many qualities that fit the Texas Children's team.
In what ways
has working here inspired you to be better? Seeing a
variety of diagnoses both in in-patient and out-patient services
has made me realize how good I have it and how others are so
positive when their families are facing challenges on a
daily basis and may be going through difficult times.
Who or what
about Texas Children's keeps you motivated? Management!
The patients and their families keep me motivated
personally, and the management team keeps me motivated on
a professional level. The
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department (PM&R)
management team does their best to be flexible with my work
schedule, and they are always willing to give good advice as to
how I can
grow professionally
within the physical therapy
field.
How have your
team members encouraged you to grow?
I have been
advised by the management team on courses I would benefit
from taking in order to further develop my knowledge and skills
in the physical therapy field. My team members have given me
their expertise on various clinics/organizations throughout the
hospital as well as within the U.S. Plus, I have grown by
being a part of the Wellness Center and the state funded
“Wellness Program” for kids within the community.
If you could
tell a potential employee one thing about working here, what
would that be? You’ll be working in a positive working
environment within the department and also throughout the
hospital. |
